Summer Days…

I can’t believe it is July already! June flew by. Here’s some pictures of what we’ve been doing this summer: lots of swimming and sprinklers trying to stay cool in this hot weather we are having.

Lake DeGray

When Trish was in town the last week of July, we all went to lake DeGray. I haven’t been there in probably ten years. We went on a Wednesday and had the beach to ourselves. The kids had so much fun with all of their cousins. We brought picnic lunches so we stayed for a few hours. After the fun at the lake we all went back to Grandma’s house for a little while. It is always a fun day when we get to spend it with cousins and Grandma!  Here’s a few pictures from the day.

Travelers Game

Micha got tickets for us all to go to a Travelers game from his work.  They were giving away free jerseys for the kids the night we went. They were all excited to put them on, it didn’t last long because it was so HOT!! We ate dinner there, pizza, hot dogs and chicken.

Here’s the crew. Our seats were in the sun and it was really hot.

Thomas was really trying to figure  out the game.

We had to get cotton candy for the kids, I enjoyed it too.

Isn’t Maddy a pretty girl?

Our seats were really good, even though we were in the sun. We didn’t last very long at the game. Averi wanted to play on the stairs and we were all super hot; so we left during the 2nd inning. Next time we go we’ll leave the kids at home. We did get to cross it off of our summer fun list and I probably won’t put it on next years!

Backyard Pool

Target had this great pool on sale a couple of weeks ago. We had to get it for the days it doesn’t work to go to our neighborhood pool. It was the best way to spend $20 for some summer fun.

Jim is good at keeping order on the slide. We only let them use the slide in the pool when we are outside.

I love this picture of Kaylee..it just says summer to me!

We had all the Arkansas DeVaux Cousins over one day last week and the kids played outside all day. It was so nice! They all went to bed early that night because they were so worn out!

We’ve used the pool almost every day, it has made our summer so much fun and gives me a little time to get things done inside!

Summer Fun 2011

So I’ve seen all kinds of fun summer to do lists all over the blogosphere. I decided to make my own that worked for me.  I designed it in PSE then printed it at Sam’s club. It cost $6 for a 16x20 print, a steal of a deal!2011 summer fun 16x20

I found a frame on clearance at Hobby Lobby and spray painted it red and hung it up on the pantry in our kitchen.  I’ll let the kids choose 2-3 activities each week for us to do. Some of the things we will do a lot, like swimming and sprinklers and going to the library; but others will be special things that we don’t always get to do. We’ll cross out the activities as we do them. Hopefully it will be  a fun summer and we will stay busy and happy!

If you want a copy of the PSE file or Jpeg, just leave a comment and I’ll email it to you .If  you have PSE you can just change the activities so they suit you and your family. Some of these things are just in Arkansas. I’ll try to blog about the activities we do, the successful ones anyway!

Happy Summer!!!

Pioneer Day Fun!

My parent's ward had a big Pioneer Day party Saturday evening so we went to Hot Springs for it.  The church is on a big hill and they did a slip and slide down the hill. I told the kids about it and they were so excited for it.  It wasn't set up when we first got there so we spent some time doing inside activities in the air conditioning. When the slip and slide was finally ready to go we got the kids changed and got in line for it. The first time down scared them pretty good. They put soap on it so you slide faster. If you click on the pictures you can seem them bigger, I got some great "scared" faces. Thomas was pretty concerned, but after he got to the bottom, he loved it and went again and again!
I don't think Matthew was scared at all. He is our little daredevil.
Poor Kaylee was scared right after she started going down. She only did it the one time. She enjoyed watching her brothers and the other kids go down.

I just love Matthew's smile, when he is happy it just lights up a room!
I love this shot of Thomas and Matthew, they are such cute brothers!

Here's a good one of Ada Belle, she actually looked at the camera! She's got such pretty blue eyes!
Silly Little Oscar
Averi loves her Uncle Oscar!
It is so nice to be able to just run to Hot Springs for an evening with the family. They served a delicious brisket dinner with all the fixins. A great way to celebrate the Pioneers!

Swimming!

This is the 2nd time we went swimming at our neighborhood pool, the first time I forgot my camera!
Averi loves swimming!

It is a great pool, nice and big and we love the zero entry!
Jim and the kids
Averi would stick her hands in the water and then suck the water off of her hands. She just had a blast at the pool!
I have the 3 older kids signed up for private swimming lessons in a couple of weeks. There is a lady in the neighborhood that teaches them at the pool. She'll teach Matthew and Kaylee together and Thomas on his own. I'm very excited for them to learn how to swim so I can maybe take them during the day on my own and not be so scared about them drowning. Matthew and Kaylee are much more daring and keep Jim and I on our toes to make sure they keep their head above water!

Here's a short video of Averi swimming :)
