Date Night {Brad Paisley Concert}

We bought tickets this summer to go and see Brad Paisley in October. It seemed like months away. We were so excited when the night was finally here. We were long overdue for a date night. I was able to find awesome floor seats for pretty cheap {less than what I have paid for just one ticket to other concerts). We have always loved Brad Paisley and he did not disappoint!

Scotty McCreary and The Band Perry opened for him. They were both great. There were lots of teenage girls there that screamed for Scotty. It made me feel old! Our row was empty so after they performed we moved to the other end of the row to be closer to the center stage.  I wish I had brought my nice camera, I could have gotten some great shots with my zoom lens…oh well. These are all taken with my iPhone.

They had some really cool laser stuff at the beginning.

Brad played for over 2 hours, I forget how many great songs he has. He sounded great and was really entertaining. So if you like Brad Paisley and get a chance to go and see him, do it!

Marji’s weekend away…

I got to go to Dallas a few weeks ago for the weekend. Brandy and I got tickets to go see Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. I flew there Friday afternoon. Brandy picked me up and we we went and did some shopping at Firewheel {I miss that mall!} It was fun to shop and hang out with Brandy.

Saturday morning we got up and I did a quick photo-shoot of Clara & Carter. They are so cute it was a lot of fun. here’s some of my faves.

Brandy had to work on Saturday for a few hours so I went to the pool at the club and laid out. I bought the latest Harlan Coben book on my Kindle and I enjoyed just reading in the sun. It was heavenly…except that the snack bar had no diet coke! I also ran into my good friend Staci who I hadn’t seen for a long time. I love catching up with old friends!!

The concert was at Cowboy stadium, such a nice venue! {I got a LOT of sun!}

Tim performed first and was great. Jim and I saw Tim & Faith when we were living in LA {probably 12 years ago!}  He has lots of fun songs that we loved.

The crowd went crazy when Kenny came out. He is awesome {and HOT of course}.

It was great when Kenny & Tim performed together. They started with their duet Feel Like a Rock star and then sang Indian outlaw and She Thinks my Tractors sexy together. They are a lot of fun together on the stage! {Sorry for the crappy pictures, I just had my iPhone.}

Can’t wait to see Kenny next year. Some day we want to spend the money to be on the floor in the “sandbar” area. Thanks for a great weekend Brandy. It is always great to spend time with you!!

Kenny Chesney Concert

So Kenny Chesney is my favorite performer. I LOVE him…(Jim is well aware of this and teases me a lot about it.) I first saw him a few years ago with Brandy, she won tickets from a radio station and we went and I was in love…He was just getting big then and it was at the Smirnoff in downtown Dallas by the fairgrounds. We had so much fun at that concert.  The next time we saw him he was at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco and it was HOT!!! We sweated buckets, but it was worth it.

We sat on the side that the sun was facing us so we were dying until the sun set. Once it set and Kenny came on stage we were much happier!

We look a lot younger in this picture…twins really age you!

A few years went by before we got to see him again. We were pregnant with twins or nursing twins or the concerts fell on Sunday. Ann joined us this time and it was CRAZY how much it was raining, but they didn’t cancel the concert so we braved the weather in our ponchos. We watched Lady Antebellum from the covered standing room only area then sat in the rain for Miranda Lambert. When Kenny came out it was raining a little less and we thought it might stop, but it just kept on raining so we just embraced it. Our ponchos did little to keep the rain out.

Kenny Concert May 2009

Kenny performed about half of his numbers then the rain was coming down so hard they had to call the show. The lightening was crazy and it was a little dangerous.

Because Kenny is just awesome he did a make-up concert a few weeks later. It was 3 hours of all Kenny. It was fun and amazing!

Kenny took last year off so we were determined to see him this year. The weekend he was in Dallas didn’t work for me so Brandy flew here to see him in Little Rock.

We had dinner at Juanita’s before the concert…not the best dining experience but we had fun. Leslie joined us for dinner.

Being the big Kenny nerd that I am I joined the fan club so we could get better seats and it was totally worth it. We were on the 9th row on the side… the seats were AWESOME! Best seats I’ve ever had at a concert. Uncle Kracker opened for him, he was all right. Billy Currington also opened and he was a lot of fun. I really like his music.

I sang and screamed so much I lost my voice for a few days. (I think I was worn down from the week because Kaylee had surgery and we spent a  few nights in the hospital. She is doing great now!) It was fun to have Pam and Andrea at the concert with me and Brandy. Thanks Kenny for being a great entertainer! As long as Kenny keeps putting on concerts, Brandy and I will keep going to them!

Carrie Underwood Concert

DSCN1373_edited-1

A few weeks ago we went to the Carrie Underwood Concert. It was sooo much fun! I hadn’t been to a concert in over a year, the last one being Kenny Chesney (love him!) It was so much fun to go with my mom, Pam & Maddy. We had a blast! Sons of Sylvia and Billy Currington opened for her and did a great job. I always like hearing new bands perform. Billy Currington had lots of fun songs and really got the crowd going.

This was one of the coolest parts of the concert she got in this big blue truck and was carried by cables around the arena, it was awesome! She is an amazing performer and after going to her concert I see why she won entertainer of the year.

While I was at Carrie, I was thinking about how different this concert was from the first concert I went to back in high school, so I’m just going to reminisce for a minute. I was a sophomore…me and my best friend Angela, went to see Van Halen. We went with her older sister Monica & her fiancée. I had NO idea what I was in for in going to see Van Halen. Looking back I can’t believe my parents let me go, but they did, they had no idea! It was at Barton Coliseum and it was general admission, we were down on the floor, standing room only, and everyone around us was drunk, smoking & probably stoned. We were both a little freaked out. The music was great, but I remember being SHOCKED at how much they cussed…I was totally naïve in what to expect at a concert. Probably about halfway through the concert the drummer started a solo and I thought I had really lost it…I thought I had gotten a “contact” high and was seeing things because the drummer was moving up in the air. Later I realized that he was on a stage that was going up, so that was a relief!

here I am in all my high school dorkiness the end of our Sophomore year with my friends: Ginger, Ruthie, Me, Kendy & Angela

The Van Halen concert started my love of going to concerts…Van Halen was probably the “hardest” concert I’ve been too, all the other seem pretty tame compared to them. I don’t think any one swore as much as Sammy Hagar (which is good because I can’t handle swearing). All the concerts I went to in high school were at Barton and were general admission so it was always fun to be on the floor. Pearl Jam was so fun with the “moshing” we did, Bon Jovi was amazing because, well It was Bon Jovi! The craziest thing Angela and I did was going to Memphis to see Da** Yankees and meeting Ted Nugent and getting stuck there because of an ice storm! (Ted Nugent was really creepy!)

ted nugent

Concerts today are so much more tame, but I don’t think I could handle the moshing and crowds like I did when I was younger…I like sitting in my comfy chair and standing up when I feel like it, sipping my Dr. Pepper and enjoying the amazing shows they put on! That’s all for my trip down memory lane- thanks for going with me!

Kenny Concert

So Saturday night was the Kenny Chesney concert. I have been looking forward to this for months. He has the best concerts and it is just so much fun. Saturday was a very rainy day, but they didn't cancel the concert so we got our ponchos and rain coats and braved the weather. I don't think I would sit through the rain for anyone but Kenny. Me, Brandy & Ann during Miranda Lambert.
Me and Brandy waiting for Kenny...it stopped raining for a little while and gave us some hope.
At the end of the concert we were soaked as you can see.
Kenny performed for about 40 minutes. It kind of stopped raining for a little while, then really picked up. It was just coming down in buckets but it was still just awesome being there. I guess the amount of rain on the stage was making it unsafe so his band left and they covered up the all his equipment on the stage. He came out with his guitar and a microphone and sang "Something Sexy about the Rain." It was awesome! You can see a video someone did here. So the lightening was getting bad and it wasn't safe for us to be there so they told everyone to get under cover. Shortly after that they announced that they were canceling the rest of the concert because it wasn't showing signs of letting up. They told us to keep our tickets and they would come back soon. Yesterday it was announced that he would be back on May 17 and we can get in for free with out ticket stubs. It is of course a Sunday...we'll see what I decide :).
