One of those days...

Have you ever had one of those days that you know it would just have been better to stay in bed? Today has been one of those for me. I should have known it would be bad when Jim came in at 6:30 and told me all the kids were awake & he had to leave for work. I've been staying up too late watching the Olympics and I was tired still. Every night I say I'm not going to stay up late, but they just suck me in. So I get up and remember Thomas has a dentist appt. so I can't even sit around and wake up. I had a babysitter come over to watch M & K so I wouldn't have to take them and her mom dropped her off, which was nice. I stopped by the bank to get some cash to pay the sitter & Jim calls to tell me the appointment was canceled and they didn't call to tell me because a glitch in their system. So I'm upset about that, but decide to take Thomas to McDonald's to get breakfast and have some Mommy time since I have a sitter. We had fun then went home. K & M didn't take very long naps, which was fine because I figured I could put them down early since we had a showing from 2-3, which is their usual nap time. So I'm trying to get the house ready for the showing and put the K & M down for their nap and I'm talking to my old friend from High School Angela (it was so much fun to catch up with her!) and forget to remind Thomas to go potty. I go in his room after I got off the phone and he'd pooped in his undies. So I have to clean that mess up, which is always so fun, and finish getting the house ready for a showing. I vacuum the whole house, clean the kitchen, wipe down the bathroom counters, clean up all the toys and clothes scattered throughout the house and I'm ready to go and have 15 minutes to spare. I think I'm doing good. I get the van loaded and Thomas out there then go in to wake K & M up. Kaylee had a poopy so I change her, get her & Matthew out to the van and Thomas had wet his pants!!!! I put K & M in their seats, turn the van on so they have the a/c on. Take Thomas to the laundry room and strip him down and put new clothes on him, dry his booster seat and get out of the house with about a minute to spare. I decided to go to Wal-Mart to get a couple of things for dinner. As I'm driving there it is looking very dark & I hope that it doesn't start raining on me, no such luck. As I'm checking out, I can tell it is raining pretty hard and doesn't look like it is going to let up. Matthew had a poopy and was tired of being in the stroller so I couldn't wait it out; so we made a run for it. Thomas lost one of his shoes while we were running so I had to stop and grab it and he had to just run with one shoe on. I get the babies in their seats & don't buckle them all the way b/c I'm getting wetter by the minute. I get the stroller loaded in the back and myself in and I'm drenched. I buckle all the kids in and take off. It is a slow drive home because it is raining so hard. Everyone is wet & grouchy. I get home and get K & M out of the van and take them inside. The door from the garage is locked (I guess the Realtor locked it b/c I never do) so I pull out my keys unlock it and put K & M in the hall and go to get the stroller out so it can dry and my bags from Wal-Mart. I shut the door so they wouldn't get out in the rain and come back and the door is locked!!! My keys are sitting on the dryer with my purse & cell phone and Thomas is in the garage with me. I tried the front door b/c sometimes the Realtors have left it unlocked but it is locked and I'm starting to freak out. I was thinking I could run to a neighbors and call our Realtor and get her to come open the house for me, but I was afraid of how long that would take and didn't want M&K alone for that long. I thought about breaking a window, but knew that would be messy. I decided I would try the back door. Sometimes it is left unlocked. I run in the rain to our backyard, I can't really get any wetter, it is unlocked!!! I almost cried for joy. I run in and run to the garage door and open it for Thomas who is standing there patiently waiting for me. K & M were playing with stuff in the diaper bag and didn't even miss me the 5 minutes I was trying to figure out how to get in my house. So now I'm blogging and drinking a Dr. Pepper ( my 2nd one of the day, but I deserve it!) and eating a peanut butter cup. I hope the rest of my day is better... I had Thomas take some pictures of me all wet. Hope everyone else has a great day!

You must have some good things coming your way! Like a super fun trip to Salt Lake for a Birthday Extravaganza Weekend (like my title?)Just think, 2 more weeks and you'll have 3 days of no diapers, poopies, 6am wake up calls, overall insanity....I can hear you now on day 2 talking about how much you miss your babies ;)

Holy Smokes! I guess those days are good cuz they help us appreciate the nice somewhat calm ones! You definitely deserve a break and we are so excited to help Jim with the kids while you P-A-R-T-Y with your sisters!!!

I'm so sorry you had such a bad day. Thank goodness the back door was unlocked, I'm sure I would have been freaking out too.
