Thomas is Eight!

Oh my! My blogging has been abysmal lately! I have lots to catch up on, hopefully it won’t take me forever to get caught up! Thomas turned eight on Dec. 16! I can’t believe how old he is. He had a little party with a couple of friends. Jim took them to Playtime Pizza and they got to do all kinds of fun games and laser tag. They came back to the house for cake and ice cream after.

He got lots of fun presents including this cool magic set. We have enjoyed him showing us different magic tricks.

He also got baptized. It was a special day. I made this invitation for family and friends.

My dad took some more pictures of all of us, but I haven’t gotten them from him yet!

Here’s a video that Cathy made of Thomas, it is just some pictures of the first week of his life. He was such a sweet baby. It is hard to believe it has been 8 years! We love you Thomas!

First Day of School Pictures 2012

A little slow getting these on the blog…Thomas started school on August 20. He is in 2nd grade and has Mrs. Weaver. He is really enjoying school this year. He has a few friends from last year in his class.

All the kids wanted to take a picture with Thomas. It actually turned out really great!

Averi had to help and hold the sign.

Kaylee and Matthew started school on September 5th. They are going to the same preschool again this year.

school-1

Kaylee was so excited to start school. The weeks before it started she would ask every day if she was going to school that day. She picked out her shirt to wear the first day. I could not get her to look at me when I was taking pictures.

school-2

Matthew wasn’t as excited about school starting. He is doing good and enjoying it though!

school-3

I had to get a few shots of my cute twins together. I can’t believe that they will start Kindergarten next year!

I love Matthew’s serious look in this picture.

Here’s Averi. She thought she was going to school too! She was very sad to leave them at school.

Kaylee is in Miss Becky’s class. The director thought long and hard about K & M being in the same class. They decided it would be best if they were in different classes. I think it has been really good for them. They have recess together so they get to see each other a couple of times a day. It is helping them get ready for next year. They also seem to get along better at home.

school-8

Matthew is in Ms. Tata’s Class (short for Tanya). He was a little somber about not having Kaylee with him. He is doing good and loving school too. I’m so glad that we have a great school for them to go to.

Thomas {2nd} Lost Tooth

Our kids are really slow to get teeth and to lose teeth. Thomas lost his first tooth right around his 7th birthday and I never got a picture {bad mom!}  Monday night he was eating ice cream and his loose tooth just feel out. He was so excited because he knew that he would get $ from the tooth fairy. I grabbed him and took a few pictures right away to capture the moment. The crazy thing is that he had a new tooth that grew in already behind the one he lost. It is all kinds of crooked. I’m afraid he is going to take after his dad {who had braces 3 times} and have to get braces!

Thomas has the most amazing eyes & eyelashes…

See that new crooked tooth back there, I guess we need to start saving for braces!

DSC_0630

He put his tooth in a Ziploc baggie so the tooth fairy could easily find it. He was excited to find $3 under his pillow the next morning. How much $ does the tooth fairy leave your kids?

Thomas is 7!!

Thomas turned 7 a couple of weeks ago. With all the busy Christmas stuff I haven’t blogged about it!  He opened his presents from us before  school.

Kaylee picked out this grabber for him.

Matthew & Averi got him a Lego Ninjago watch.

Jim & I got him a bow and arrow set. He was very excited about it.

Jim took him to breakfast before school.

I got to go have lunch with him at school. I picked up subway for lunch. He wanted a turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and 2 pickles.  It is always entertaining to eat lunch with 1st graders.

Thomas invited 3  friends over for a little birthday party on Saturday. It was a nice afternoon so they got to play outside for a while. They enjoyed trying out his new bow, playing a little soccer and tossing a football around.

His friends gave him some nice gifts, he was very excited about this Ninjago Lego set from Evan.

Thomas was very specific about what he wanted for dinner with is friends. We got Larry’s pizza, cheese and pepperoni, and he wanted a chocolate chip pizza for his cake. Easy for me!

This was the easiest cake I’ve ever done… Thanks Larry’s for a delicious birthday pizza.

Soccer

Thomas started soccer in September. He is enjoying playing this season. He loves to play defense and kick the ball out.

He loves soccer practice because they do skills training and play lots of different games. He is very competitive in the games and often wins.

The other kids enjoy playing soccer in empty fields and running around. They cheer for Thomas occasionally. Kaylee & Matthew can start soccer in the spring and are very excited for it. I guess we will be spending our Saturday's in the spring at the soccer fields!

Legos

Thomas and Matthew LOVE Legos. Their favorite ones are the Star Wars ones. They will sit and play with their LEGOs for hours!! It is one of the things that they do together and there isn’t too much fighting with it.DSC_0004
Matthew loves the Clone Trooper men. He will come and ask to play with his “strangers” (he calls them that because that is what they are called on the Wii games.)
DSC_0005
Thomas is great at building things. He likes to follow the plans. I used to have to help him build his things but now he can do it on his own. He is also good at building things with his imagination. I always have to check the floor before I vacuum to make sure there aren’t any pieces on the floor. I don’t like the little pieces everywhere, but it is worth it though to see my boys doing something fun and creative together.

Thomas-1st Grade!

Thomas started 1st grade last week. He is doing very good and loves his teacher. There are a couple of friends from his class last year in his class and he is making new friends. He has more homework (he isn’t really happy about it) but he does it and gets it right! We took some pictures before he went to school. He said he wanted Jim to take him since I get to  pick him up. I love how confident he is. I was a little sad not to take him, but knew he was in good hands with Jim.

He loves to wink

Mrs. Whittaker was right by the front doors when they walked in so Jim got a quick picture.

When I was a teacher I would sometimes get really thoughtful gifts from my students. I still have some of them. (Most teachers don’t like apples so don’t give them things with apples on them!) I love these double walled cups with straws. I always had a drink handy when I was teaching because you get so thirsty from all your talking. I used my trusty silhouette and cut some vinyl and put some M&M’s inside the cup because everyone needs chocolate on the first day of school. It turned out pretty cute I think!

They didn’t let the parents go to the classroom the first day so Jim got this picture of Thomas at his desk on the 2nd of school
