Marji’s weekend away…

I got to go to Dallas a few weeks ago for the weekend. Brandy and I got tickets to go see Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. I flew there Friday afternoon. Brandy picked me up and we we went and did some shopping at Firewheel {I miss that mall!} It was fun to shop and hang out with Brandy.

Saturday morning we got up and I did a quick photo-shoot of Clara & Carter. They are so cute it was a lot of fun. here’s some of my faves.

Brandy had to work on Saturday for a few hours so I went to the pool at the club and laid out. I bought the latest Harlan Coben book on my Kindle and I enjoyed just reading in the sun. It was heavenly…except that the snack bar had no diet coke! I also ran into my good friend Staci who I hadn’t seen for a long time. I love catching up with old friends!!

The concert was at Cowboy stadium, such a nice venue! {I got a LOT of sun!}

Tim performed first and was great. Jim and I saw Tim & Faith when we were living in LA {probably 12 years ago!}  He has lots of fun songs that we loved.

The crowd went crazy when Kenny came out. He is awesome {and HOT of course}.

It was great when Kenny & Tim performed together. They started with their duet Feel Like a Rock star and then sang Indian outlaw and She Thinks my Tractors sexy together. They are a lot of fun together on the stage! {Sorry for the crappy pictures, I just had my iPhone.}

Can’t wait to see Kenny next year. Some day we want to spend the money to be on the floor in the “sandbar” area. Thanks for a great weekend Brandy. It is always great to spend time with you!!

Weekend in Dallas

We had a 4 day weekend for President's day so we decided to take advantage of it and go to Dallas. We hadn’t been for over a year. The main reason was to go to the temple. We usually go to the Memphis Temple, but thought it would be fun to go to Dallas and see old friends and family and do some shopping too. We left Friday morning and made great timing to Dallas. The kids were so excited to go on a mini-vacation we only had to stop 1 1/2 times (once for lunch and 1/2 for Kaylee to go to the bathroom). Jim and the kids dropped me off at the temple. Walking into the temple felt like coming home. I love the Dallas temple and have missed living close to it. It is the temple Jim & I were sealed in. It is the temple I grew up going to. I loved being there. I ran into one of my friends there. She did a double take seeing me. It was nice to visit with her for a bit. I love the spirit you feel in the temple, the peace.

Jim and the kids picked me up, they had gone to the LEGO store and had so much fun. We went back to the hotel for a little while so they could play with their new Legos and I could change and freshen up for dinner.

The kids were so excited about their new Legos and got right to work building them.

We met Dave (Jim’s cousin) & Nellie for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant Siciliano’s. The kids had so much fun talking and visiting together. I liked listening to their conversations. The adults enjoyed catching up with each other and the yummy food. Here’s a picture of the 8 kids outside the restaurant.

Saturday morning we got up and enjoyed a delicious breakfast, I LOVE the omelet bar! We headed to Ikea. We weren’t there for very long, I knew what I wanted and we got out in under an hour, which is fast for Ikea! I wish I had more money to spend there! We went to the Lego store, again! The kids loved all the Legos that you can play with.

Do you like Averi’s black eye? She fell the Wednesday before we left and hit her face on the TV stand in the playroom.

The kids chose some smaller sets to get.

We did a little more shopping and picked up In-And-Out and went back to the hotel so they could play with their Legos some more. We had dinner that night at my cousin Marcie’s house. The kids love going to “Landon & Blake’s” house and playing. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday we went to our old ward, the Sachse ward. It was fun to be back and see so many old friends. The ward has changed a lot since we moved out, but we still have some great friends there. It still feels like my “home” ward, we were there so long. We went to Jeff & Brandy’s and spent the night with them. The kids all played really well together. They loved it! I loved hanging out with Brandy We even had time for a little craft. I wish I could talk them into moving to Arkansas!

A Little Trip

We decided to make a quick trip to Dallas the week of New Year’s. Jim had an extra vacation day and we thought it would be fun to go see a few friends and check on our house in Roanoke. We left Thursday morning and headed to Brandy & Jeff’s house. The kids were very excited to see their friends. We had fun hanging out watching the kids play. It was nice and warm outside so they had fun playing in the backyard and riding bikes. After a yummy dinner and a trip to the yogurt place we got the kids to bed and we got to enjoy some adult time and watch a movie in the media room.

After we left the Dowdle’s we headed over to the Reese’s for a quick visit. The kids just ran in and and went right upstairs to the playroom. we didn’t see them until we had to leave. Kaylee was in heaven with all the princess things that Kate & Emily have. It was fun to catch up with Kevin & Angela. We stayed at their house for a little while then grabbed lunch at yummy Potbelly and headed over to Roanoke. The kids had fun running around our empty house. They were really cute saying, oh this was our playroom and our old bedrooms. I miss the big pretty kitchen and the big windows and all the light. We went and visited with the Ellis’s for a few minutes then headed over to Grapevine Mill’s mall. I wish we had time to see all of our friends in Sachse and Roanoke. Hopefully the next time we go we’ll have more time to see more people.

Grapevine Mills was CrAzY busy!! I had to get a few things for the kids, we just don’t have as many store options in Arkansas. We decided to let the kids do Build-A-Bear. Thomas has done it a couple of times, but this was Kaylee & Matthew’s first time to do it. They were so excited!! They had so much fun choosing their bear and the sound and then choosing the outfits.

I didn’t get a picture of the finished products. Matthew chose a Jedi Star Wars outfit for his bear and named him Ben (as in O-Bee-Won). Thomas dressed his bear in a clone trooper outfit and named him Rex. Kaylee choose a pink ballerina outfit and calls her bear Princess Leia. I think we have to much star wars going on at our house! Averi got a cute little lamb. We’ll wait till she’s older and can appreciate the build-a-bear experience!

After shopping a little more we headed up to McKinney to Jeff & Marcie’s. We didn’t get to see them before we moved to Arkansas. Thomas was so excited to see Landon and Blake. They had fun playing.  Thomas and Blake got a long really well this time and had fun together. We toasted in the new year with Jeff and Marcie with a glass of Martinelli’s then we all went to bed.  We headed out Saturday morning. The kids were all sad to leave, Thomas especially. Hopefully we’ll get back to Dallas soon! (Next time I’ll take more pictures! I can’t believe I didn’t pull my camera out more!)
